Leanne Hetherton from Property Management by Leanne Supporting Cancer Council Queensland (Redlands Volunteer Branch)

Community involvement often comes from deeply personal experiences. For Leanne Hetherton, Principal Property Manager and co‑owner of Property Management By Leanne, supporting the Cancer Council Queensland Redlands Volunteer Branch is grounded in lived experience, gratitude and a strong desire to give back.

Leanne has been involved with the Cancer Council for seven years, following her own cancer diagnosis and recovery. Having personally relied on the services and support provided, her involvement is a way of contributing to the same network of care for others facing a cancer journey.

Supporting Cancer Council Queensland at a Local Level

The Cancer Council Queensland Redlands Volunteer Branch raises funds to support people and families impacted by cancer, while also contributing to research and future treatments.

Leanne supports the organisation in many practical and hands‑on ways. This includes making financial donations, sponsoring major events, volunteering her time at cake stalls and community events, and assisting with cent sales and market stalls.

In recent years, Leanne has also taken on a coordinating role for the Community Bendigo Bank Raffle, contributing significant time and organisation to help maximise fundraising outcomes. She regularly attends monthly committee meetings and actively promotes awareness by sharing her story when appropriate.

Service Informed by Experience

One of the most meaningful aspects of Leanne’s involvement is supporting people currently navigating their cancer journey. Having walked that path herself, she understands that sometimes it is easier to speak with someone who truly understands the experience.

This quiet, compassionate support often happens behind the scenes and without recognition. It is driven by empathy rather than obligation, and by a belief that shared strength can make a difficult time feel less isolating.

Perspective, Gratitude and Community Responsibility

Being involved with the Cancer Council has shaped how Leanne approaches both life and business. It has reinforced the importance of not taking time for granted and doing what can be done today, rather than postponing contribution or connection.

Leanne and her husband Glen support the Cancer Council together, contributing where and when they can. Their involvement reflects a shared belief that small actions, when combined across a community, can have a powerful impact.

The Role of BRBN in Supporting Community‑Minded Business Owners

Leanne is a member of the Bayside Redland Business Network, a not for profit business networking group supporting local small business owners across the Redlands.

BRBN provides an environment where community contribution is encouraged and respected. Members are supported in giving back in ways that align with their values, without expectation of return or recognition.

This culture allows stories like Leanne’s to be shared thoughtfully, with care and respect, and always with the community at the centre.

A Shared Strength Across the Community

Leanne’s ongoing support of the Cancer Council Queensland Redlands Volunteer Branch reflects the strength that comes from community involvement and shared understanding.

It is a reminder that everyone has something to contribute, and that by supporting one another, communities are better equipped to face challenges together.
