BABI Youth and Family service would like to acknowledge the Bayside Redland Business Network for your kind and generous donation and support of BABI’s work across the Bayside community.

BABI’s Specialist Youth Homelessness Service (SYHS), works with young people (16-21years) and young families (16-25years) with young children who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Many of these young people have complex and high level support needs, as they have experienced trauma and violence, often in family settings and often from a young age.

BABI’s Specialist Youth Homelessness Service housed over 80 young people and children last year throughout our different models of housing. We also engaged with many more young people who were requesting assistance, information and referral and outreach support through our intake process in this program. BABI is committed to responding to youth homelessness and supporting young people’s access to housing and other support services and to sustain their tenancies. The move from homelessness to more settled (long-term) accommodation is a huge step and has a major impact on young people’s health and wellbeing. By virtue of their age; low income/lack of income; lack of information and difficulty/discrimination to access support services and systems; and lack of family and support networks, young people when they become homeless need the added support and practical assistance.

BABI doesn’t receive brokerage funds to purchase or pay for practical items and expenses. It is a significant gap in services we offer to our young clients. With your kind donation we envisage we will be able to assist young people with practical and brokerage assistance such as purchasing Go-cards and travel credit to increase employment and study opportunities, medical prescriptions to assist with better physical and mental health, purchasing clothing for job interviews, school uniforms or work clothing/boots, emergency food vouchers, some small household items such as crockery, cutlery, saucepans, kitchen utensils, electrical appliances, bed & bath linen, curtains, etc.

Once again, thank you so much to Bayside Redland Business Network for your generosity and your donation truly makes a difference in the lives of homeless youth. BABI looks forward to working with you into the future.
